By combining AI-powered ultrasound and precision robotics, we have developed the world’s first autonomous blood-drawing device. This innovation will revolutionize healthcare by enhancing efficiency and precision in patient care. As we approach a major milestone with the launch of our device to our first customers at the end of 2024, we are looking for passionate individuals to help drive our next stage of growth as we expand further into European and US markets in the years ahead. 

As VP of Engineering, you will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO with >50 (indirect) reports. Your role will center on several key pillars essential to Vitestro’s success such as:  

Project management 

By setting and monitoring the right KPIs and budget, you will track progress of the planning while supporting project managers in their daily tasks. You will oversee both short- and long-term project planning, ensuring the engineering teams meet their challenging goals. When timelines or goals are at risk, you will take proactive steps to ensure the projects remain aligned with market demands. You understand the urgency of rapid product iterations to ensure a successful product launch. 

Technical expertise  

Leveraging your deep knowledge of mechanical, software, and electrical engineering, you will guide the engineering team in making informed technical decisions. You will enable the team to realize breakthroughs and assist in important technological decisions. Our medical device must meet FDA requirements, therefor you will play a key role in ensuring compliance while supporting the preparation of the Technical File. You will also lead our IP efforts. 

Involvement in sales conversations & ensuring product market fit 

Vitestro is currently focused on successful product introduction and responding dynamically to market needs. Driven by a solid customer-centric vision, you will lead the strategic development and execution of the technical product roadmap. You will engage with customers directly to understand their key needs and prioritize the right features and enablers together with our Sales & Marketing team. 

HR 

Leading a dynamic, fast-growing high-tech team of 50+ engineers comes naturally to you. Your role will be to inspire, guide, and coach the team, fostering a culture of positive collaboration while ensuring they have the support and direction needed to excel in their work 

Involvement in production and supply chain management 

You will collaborate closely with key suppliers and develop the technology needed to scale production effectively. 

What you bring?

• brings a positive attitude and is fun to work with, contributing to our energetic team atmosphere! 

What is your must-have skillset?

• Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent 

• Proven record of accomplishment of 15+ years as a leader of multidisciplinary technology teams 

• Familiar with leading technology teams of at least >30 (indirect) reports 

• Start-up or scale-up experience, or experience in a small company (<100 FTE) 

• Experience with successfully bringing a high-tech product to the market, ideally within the field of medical robotics 

• Experience working in a regulated environment; having worked within an FDA-regulated environment is a plus 

• Experience across the whole product life cycle, from prototyping to industrialization 

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
